Richmond Campus

Indeed, there is more than corn in Indiana! Come visit the Bethany Center located in Richmond, Indiana, where jazz came alive, rose gardens bloom, and bikers and hikers trail down the Whitewater Gorge! Located on Earlham College campus, Bethany students have access to the Lilly Library, the Wellness Center, and the Clear Creek Co-Op. Our Bethany Center includes media-ready classrooms, resource libraries and study rooms, and Nicarry Chapel where we worship weekly. Come visit us anytime by contacting Admissions or by attending one of two Campus Visit Days this next academic year -- November 7th, 2008 and March 6th, 2009 (more information to come!).

Degree Program Options

Here at Bethany, you can pursue one of three graduate level educational options: Master of Divinity , Master of Arts , or Certificate of Achievement in Theological Studies. Learning at Bethany happens within the context of community -- whether on-campus or on-line; so while the heart of our program resides in the classroom in Richmond, Indiana, we have extended our program's accessibility through Connections, a program that combines short-term intensives at the Bethany Center, on-line courses, and off-site courses hosted by the Susquehanna Valley Ministry Center in Pennsylvania. In addition, the Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership provides an undergraduate-level certificate program for members of the Church of the Brethren, empowering leadership in bi-vocational ministry and strengthening those currently serving in set-apart ministry.

Specialized Programs

Two specialized programs supplement our ministry and research degree programs: Peace and Cross Cultural studies insist that we take seriously alternatives to violence in our local and global communities. The Institute for Ministry with Youth and Young Adults features the distinctive skills involved in ministry to and with the emerging generations.

Educational Partnerships

Bethany's educational partnerships provide opportunities and possibilities grounded in our own faculty and strengthened by the rich resources of nearby seminaries and colleges, area congregations, and denominational agencies. Standing side by side with Earlham School of Religion, which centers in Quaker practices, Bethany students encounter an exciting ecumenical learning experience that complements Bethany's own Christian heritage of the Church of the Brethren. Beginning in the 2008-2009 academic year, Bethany students will learn from scholars who represent all three of the historic and living peace churches, the Church of the Brethren, the Quakers, and the Mennonites.
